Scythe of Amon Co-op Guide: A Straight Fight Against the Void

Scythe of Amon is the StarCraft II Co-op mission that leans hardest into the setting's endgame mood. Amon's forces are gathered in strength and your job is to push into them and tear down what is holding the position together, while the map keeps throwing corrupted armies at you.

Structurally it is a push mission: no fragile escort to babysit, no train to catch. That sounds friendly, and it is why the map is a good place to learn co-op fundamentals — but it also means the mission is a straight test of whether your army can beat Amon's army. There is nowhere to hide behind a mechanic.

Attack waves are the pressure. They keep arriving while you are away pushing, and they get meaner as the mission goes on. The classic Brutal mistake is to take the whole army out, win the objective fight, and come home to a wrecked base. A modest static defense line and the habit of leaving something behind is usually the difference between a clean clear and a scramble.

Push discipline beats army size. Move as one group, clear defenses before walking into the middle of them, and save global abilities and calldowns for the fights that are actually hard instead of spending them to make an early push comfortable. Amon's compositions mix heavy ground with air, so a composition that only answers one of those will stall halfway through.

Commander styles that work. Straightforward army commanders shine here: Raynor with big bio waves and reinforcements, Artanis with durable gateway units and orbital support, Zagara flooding the map with swarms. Support and siege options like Mengsk's artillery or Karax's defenses and calldowns soften objectives before contact. Control commanders such as Vorazun and Zeratul disable or delete the dangerous parts of a defense, and Abathur, Kerrigan, Tychus and Stukov each give you a different way to win the same fight — scaling, mobility, burst or endless bodies.

The channel has plenty of Brutal Scythe of Amon runs — Raynor and Kerrigan, Artanis with Mengsk and with Zagara, Abathur and Raynor, Tychus with Vorazun and with Karax, Mengsk and Stukov, Zeratul and Stukov — a good showcase of how many different armies clear the same map.
