Admiral Gerard DuGalle is the cold authority of StarCraft: Brood War's Terran campaign: commander of the United Earth Directorate expedition sent to pacify the Koprulu Sector. If Mengsk is a home-grown tyrant, DuGalle is empire arriving from Earth.
He leads an invasion that feels industrial and absolute - capture shipyards, seize psi technology, topple Mengsk, and chain the Zerg. DuGalle's UED is not cowboy rebellion; it is expeditionary doctrine with battlecruisers and medics as instruments of control.
His relationship with Alexei Stukov is Brood War's human tragedy. DuGalle trusts the wrong whispers, authorizes Stukov's death in Patriot's Blood, and only later understands the scale of the mistake. That regret is rare for StarCraft villains - and it makes DuGalle more than a faceless admiral.
Even after chaining a new Overmind, DuGalle cannot hold the sector. Kerrigan dismantles UED ambitions through alliances and betrayals until Omega finishes the expedition. DuGalle's final letters home turn conquest into mourning.
He matters because Brood War needed an outside power. Local warlords were not enough; Earth itself had to arrive, win too much, and lose everything.
